“World War Could Break Out Anytime,” Warns Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Amid Rising Global Tensions

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, on Sunday issued a stark warning about the growing risk of global conflict, stating that a world war “could break out at any time.” Speaking at the launch event of the book Beyond Borders, Gadkari referred to the ongoing wars between Russia and Ukraine, and Israel and Iran, citing them as alarming signs of escalating global instability.

Gadkari attributed the deteriorating global situation to the authoritarianism and dictatorship of superpower nations, which he said are eroding values of coordination, harmony, and compassion. “A climate of conflict is spreading across the world. In the context of the ongoing wars between Israel and Iran, and between Russia and Ukraine, there is a real possibility of a world war breaking out at any moment,” he said.

Highlighting how warfare has evolved with advanced technology, Gadkari noted that the increasing use of missiles and drones is rendering traditional war machinery like tanks and aircraft less relevant. He expressed concern over the growing complexity of modern warfare, which, he said, has made the task of safeguarding humanity more difficult than ever.

Emphasizing India’s role as the land of Buddha — a nation that has long championed truth, non-violence, and peace — Gadkari called for thoughtful analysis of international developments. He stressed the importance of shaping future policy through collective reflection.

“It may not sound appropriate to say this openly, but the reality is that we are slowly heading toward destruction,” he remarked. “The authoritarian tendencies of superpowers are pushing the world away from coordination, harmony, and love.”
