‘Terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack have been neutralized’: JP Nadda delivers a strong response to opposition’s questions on Operation Sindoor

New Delhi: During the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, the issue of Operation Sindur has sparked heated debates. In the Rajya Sabha, Leader of the House JP Nadda articulated the government’s stance on the operation, emphasizing the effective use of military power and highlighting a significant decline in terrorist attacks across the country.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government responded swiftly to the Pahalgam attack within 13 days, maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. Nadda stated that Team India has successfully exposed Pakistan’s true face to the world, attributing the difference in outcomes to strong political leadership.

Targeting the opposition, the BJP chief pointed out that previous governments took no concrete action following major terrorist incidents such as the 2005 Delhi serial bombings, the 2006 Varanasi attack, and the 2006 Mumbai local train bombings. He remarked that during that period, terrorism, trade, and tourism between India and Pakistan continued unabated.

Nadda also refuted claims that no country stood with India post-Pahalgam attack, stating that 61 world leaders condemned the attack, and 35 foreign ministers sent a strong message of solidarity. Major global platforms—including the United Nations, QUAD, and BRICS—stood firmly with India in denouncing the attack.

He further asserted that terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir has been effectively eradicated, with the average lifespan of a terrorist now reduced to just seven days. This, he said, is the direct result of the Modi government’s uncompromising stance on terrorism.

Addressing Mallikarjun Kharge’s query about the fate of the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack, Nadda responded unequivocally, “They have been buried in the earth through Operation Mahadev.”

Taking aim at the opposition again, Nadda criticized the Congress for attempting to link the Mumbai attacks to the RSS, labeling it as ‘saffron terrorism.’ He reminded the nation of who once supported Hafiz Saeed and recalled the statement of a former UPA Defence Minister, who had advocated for a policy of not developing border infrastructure as the best defense, arguing that “an undeveloped border is safer than a developed one.” According to Nadda, this led to prolonged neglect in constructing roads, airports, and essential infrastructure in border areas.
