New Delhi, July 20, 2025 — A day ahead of the commencement of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, a high-stakes all-party meeting convened by the central government witnessed sharp exchanges, with opposition parties uniting to corner the government on several contentious issues.

The Monsoon Session is scheduled to run from July 21 to August 21, 2025. In light of Independence Day celebrations, Parliament will not convene on August 13 and 14.

In today’s meeting held in the national capital, senior leaders from across the political spectrum participated. Union Ministers JP Nadda and Kiren Rijiju represented the government, while the opposition was led by Congress MPs Suresh and Jairam Ramesh, Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Shinde, NCP-SCP’s Supriya Sule, BJP MP Ravi Kishan, and leaders from the Samajwadi Party, YSR Congress, JD(U), AIADMK, CPI(M), and DMK.

This will be the first parliamentary session since two major events: the Pahalgam attack in Jammu & Kashmir on April 22 and the launch of Operation Sindoor on May 7. Both issues are expected to be brought up forcefully in Parliament.

Additionally, matters such as voter list reforms in Bihar and the contentious Waqf Bill are set to dominate the agenda. The opposition has signaled its intention to raise these topics vigorously on the floor of the House, setting the stage for a potentially stormy session.
