Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary has leveled serious allegations regarding the recent landslide near the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage route. In a sharp criticism of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Choudhary questioned the administration’s handling of the flood and landslide warnings in the region.
Speaking to the media, Choudhary alleged that despite clear warnings of cloudbursts and potential landslides, the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage was not suspended in time. He claimed that the victims of the landslide “did not die in a natural disaster — they were killed,” suggesting the incident may not have been accidental.
He further accused the administration of negligence and demanded an investigation into what he described as a “criminal conspiracy” behind the tragedy. “Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha must answer. There should be a thorough probe into this matter,” the Deputy CM stated.
These comments come as rescue operations continue and the region remains on high alert following the catastrophic landslide that claimed 34 lives.
