Terror Threat in Mumbai: ‘14 Terrorists, 400 kg RDX, Bombs in 34 Vehicles’; City on High Alert

Mumbai: Mumbai has been placed on high alert following a major security threat received by the city’s traffic control room via WhatsApp on Thursday. The alarming message claimed that 14 terrorists had infiltrated Mumbai with 400 kilograms of RDX explosives, and that bombs had been planted in 34 vehicles across the city.

The threat has triggered an immediate and large-scale response from law enforcement agencies. Both the Crime Branch and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have launched a joint investigation to verify the authenticity of the message and trace its origin.

The message also mentioned the name of a terror outfit — “Lashkar-e-Jihadi.” Authorities are currently investigating the legitimacy of the group and working to identify the individual or network responsible for sending the threat.

Heightened Security Ahead of Ganesh Festival Finale

The threat comes at a particularly sensitive time, as the city prepares for the final day of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival — a celebration that draws massive crowds onto the streets for idol immersion processions. In light of this, police have significantly ramped up security across Mumbai.

Security has been tightened at key locations, including temples, markets, and other high-footfall areas. Intensive combing operations are underway to detect any suspicious activity or materials. Surveillance has also been increased, and law enforcement is maintaining a strong presence across the city.

Police have urged the public to remain calm, avoid spreading rumors, and report any suspicious behavior or objects immediately to the authorities. The situation continues to be monitored closely.
