Kishtwar High-Altitude Operation: Security Forces Neutralize 7 Hardcore Militants After 326-Day Mission

Jammu: In a major success for security forces, a prolonged and challenging high-altitude operation in the Chhatroo area of Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, has resulted in the elimination of seven hardcore militants. The operation, which lasted 326 days, was conducted in extremely harsh high-Himalayan terrain under severe weather conditions.

The joint operation was carried out by the Army’s White Knight Corps (16 Corps), the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Throughout the mission, security personnel pursued the militants across difficult mountainous terrain, enduring extreme cold, heavy rainfall, and snowfall. Several encounters took place during the sustained pursuit.

Acting on a well-established intelligence grid developed by civil and military intelligence agencies, forces ultimately neutralized all seven militants, including the notorious militant commander Saifullah and his associates.

Use of Advanced Technology

Modern technology played a crucial role in the success of the operation. Security forces deployed FPV drones, satellite imagery, remotely piloted aircraft (RPA)/UAVs, and advanced communication systems to track militant movements and coordinate actions effectively in the challenging terrain.

Security officials stated that the determined efforts, courage, and resilience of the forces once again demonstrate that terror networks will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The operation is being viewed as a significant setback to militant infrastructure active in the region.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the White Knight Corps described the mission as an act of “heroic perseverance,” highlighting the continuous and determined operations carried out in the difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions of Kishtwar.

According to the Army, coordinated action based on a robust intelligence grid enabled forces to repeatedly engage the militants in the snow-bound mountainous region, ultimately leading to their elimination. Officials emphasized that the killing of Saifullah and his associates has dealt a major blow to the militant network operating in the area and reflects the unwavering commitment and bravery of the armed forces and intelligence agencies.
