New Delhi: The Budget Session of Parliament continues to witness repeated disruptions. On the ninth day as well, chaos erupted in the Lok Sabha as soon as proceedings began, forcing the House to be adjourned till 12 noon.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla stated that every member has the right to speak as per rules and that the House is not meant for deadlock and sloganeering. Meanwhile, reports suggest that the opposition may bring a no-confidence motion against the Lok Sabha Speaker.
Opposition MPs raised slogans of “Let Rahul Gandhi speak” and continued their protest inside the House. Before the start of the proceedings, opposition leaders held a meeting in Parliament, during which the issue of moving a no-confidence motion against the Speaker was also discussed.
The Congress party stated that if Rahul Gandhi is allowed to speak in the House, proceedings can continue smoothly; otherwise, disruptions in Parliament are likely.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi arrived at Parliament. Responding to a question from the media, Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Who says the House will not function today?”
